The next club meeting is on Thursday night April 4th, at the Polish White Eagle Club.

  • Education: Kurtz is bringing along a special guest – Doug from Three Sons Cider. Doug offers not just an insight to cider, but tastings of various blends from table to full on cider apples. An evening not to be missed… bring your questions.
  • Raffle: We will have a range of interesting and exciting prizes on offer.
  • Six Pack Swap: is on again and it’s a great way to try new styles, practice judging and receive feedback on your brews. Sign up on FB or on the forum.
  • Kegerator Raffle: Plenty more opportunities to earn tickets in the kegerator raffle, by attending, bringing along your beer and putting your beer into the six pack swap… easy!

CBR Brewers & Cypher Brewing Co. Competition

Thanks to the 17 volunteers and the great staff at Cypher Brewing Co for a great first comp of 2024. 

All results and feedback are now available for download on the competition website. We had 48 entries – thanks to all who submitted their beers and great work of the stewards and judges for providing such comprehensive feedback.

The Best of Show award was picked up by Patrick Baggoley for his Red IPA – to be on tap at Cypher Brewing Co later in the year.

Big thanks to Cypher Brewing Co for hosting and sponsoring this competition, and a very big thanks to Nic and Ed for running a smooth operation. Great work everyone!

Education

Kurtz will be talking about (in his words) a recent “3-way experiment”… but one that involved 2.2kg of low-sulphur grape pomace in a sour beer.

Hops

Weenie has generously sourced a range of Yakima Chief hops (56g/2oz packs), these will be given away free to members at the door (limit of 2 per person).

GABS 2024 countdown

Thanks to the crew who rocked up to BentSpoke to countdown the GABS hottest 100. Biug congrats to BentSpoke and Cranky for coming in #3. Another great result for the local brewers!

Kegerator Raffle

With thanks to former member Peter Pick for his generous donation, the club is raffling a second hand (in very good condition) Three Tap Keg King kegerator at the June club meeting (6th June 2024). The kegerator is a Keg-King “Kegmaster Series 3” 3x tap kegerator that’s been set up to control the temperature via wifi. New lines and fitting are being donated by Mashematics.

The only condition is you have to get involved with the club to get entries, like volunteering to judge or steward at competitions, or bringing a keg of your latest to club meetings. Full details about how you can obtain entries into this raffle can be found here.

Multi-Culti is back for 2024 and the club will be selling local Canberra brews (commercial) at our stall. It’s always great fun and a really important event for the club each year as it helps fund the club’s activities and provides an opportunity to promote and welcome potential members.

If you’re interested in ridesharing, then start a conversation on the forum or the Facebook page and, last of all, please consider sitting this meeting out if you’ve tested positive to COVID.

AGM: The AGM covers off a range of club business, but of particular note is the Committee election.

If you are interested in helping run the club as a member of the Committee, express your interest in advance of the AGM by contacting the committee, or get in touch with the person who currently holds a position you’re interested in, or email president@canberrabrewers.com.au or editor@canberrabrewers.com.au. Nominations are welcome on the night as well.

Joining the Committee is a really great way to get more involved in the Club, meet more members, and help make the Club as great as it can be. If you’re interested in helping to run the club, please consider nominating yourself before the meeting! The Committee is currently comprised of the following positions:
