Gilks As we come into 2011, the Canberra Brewers is coming off a great year. Success at Nationals, a great year on the social front, better prizes and rewards for members and a strong balance sheet have all contributed to this result.

Your Committee has been discussing plans for this year and you can expect expanded social activities, quality education events and new options to let loose your competitive spirit. We will also explore more opportunities as they arise following incorporation. As Dicko has mentioned, a range of specific initiatives are already underway with more details to follow as soon as details are locked down.

The biggest thing to happen to the Canberra Brewers this year will be incorporation of the group following the final proposal that was put to you all at the February meeting, and which was passed following the various votes. It is important that members renew their membership as soon as possible so that they are a part of a significant piece of club history. Details on both incorporation and membership renewals are in the News section of the forum.

I suppose as Treasurer I should let you know about the finances. Our finances are strong coming out of last year and will provide a strong base to support your Committee's Whitlam-esque plans to transform the Canberra Brewers and provide a better experience for members in 2011.

Authorbox_treasurer I've been a single parent for the last month, so I'm just a tad disorganised and i'm eagerly awaiting Mrs Mozzie's return from OS. I'll keep this month's column short and sweet. I've been forking out lots of money this month on oxygen equipment, and all the expenses for next weeks Sydney trip (accommodation etc). If you have committed to either of these projects and haven't paid up yet, please do so pronto. Electronic transfer to the club's account is preferred, but I will take cash at the meeting if you are so inclined. The club bank account balance is looking a bit depleted at the moment due to the above, but only by recent standards. Previous treasurers would have been quite happy with it.

Authorbox_treasurer Hey all, it's your friendly neighbourhood treasurer Mozzie here. Well – all friendly now we've done the big account switch off at any rate. If you can no longer log on to the forum, it means you haven't paid. You should be aware of this anyway, because it's the most important $30 you'll spend all year (and our web-minion will have sent you an email when he deactivated your account).

At cutoff we had 82 paid-up members, with another 2 paying immediately on receiving their cutoff emails. This is a very healthy membership for this time of year, and I expect that this year we will easily break the highly symbolic 100-member barrier for the first time (We just missed it last year.)

Authorbox_treasurer Bank transfer membership renewals are welcome any time, and of course you can pay cash at any club meeting. But some time in March, myself and our good web-minion Graham will be putting our lists together and locking out the accounts of anybody who hasn't paid their membership for this year.

If anyone isn't sure whether they've paid, i'll be posting a list of renewals received so far on the forum before the March meeting, so you've got no excuse. Instructions for renewing are listed in the sticky "Membership Renewals" thread at the top of the "News" forum. In case you are reading this in mid-March, after your account has been locked, here they are again.
